Carmen Bullon

Carmen Bullon is a lawyer with a Master’s in International Law from the European Union and a postgraduate degree in International Trade. Before joining FAO she worked in the department of international relations and community law of the public administration of the Autonomous Community of Galicia. For 16 years she has been working as a legal officer in the Development Law Service of FAO, where she works in issues related to animal and plant health, food safety and agricultural production, and the One Health approach. She has worked in over 50 countries and different regional organizations in support of the development of legislation and the strengthening of capacities in legal areas related to agriculture and food.

 

Dr. Francesco Feliziani

Education: Università degli Studi di Perugia (1986-1992) Degree in Veterinary Medicine and Università degli Studi di Perugia (1992-1994) postgraduate degree in Public Veterinary Health.

Current post: Acting director of the virology department of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell'Umbria e delle Marche "Togo Rosati"; Chief of Italian Reference Laboratory for Classical and African Swine Fever and of the Italian Reference Laboratory for retroviruses in ruminants.

Main qualifications: Dr. Feliziani is an expert epidemiology scientist with experience in the application of plans to survey, control and eradicate infectious diseases of mandatory reporting in livestock. He also has vast experience in veterinary diagnosis and in laboratory research. He has worked at the Virology Laboratory and the Veterinary Epidemiological Laboratory. He is part of the National Expert Group for the emergence of infectious diseases in livestock (Italy).

He is the author of 130 publications (papers, oral communications, posters…)

 

 

 

Dr. Sandro Rolesu

From 04/01/2000 to 03/12/2000 he was Assistant Professor at the Università di Sassari, Faculty of Veterinary Studies, Via Vienna 9, 07100 Sassari (Italy), and a professor of Epidemiology; infectious diseases and public veterinary medicine; pathology and clinical medicine of infectious animals.

Since 12/06/2000 he has served as Chief of the CdSE-OEVR – Centre of Epidemiological Surveillance -Regional Veterinary Epidemiological Observatory of the Instituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Sardegna "G. Pegreffi" Via Duca degli Abruzzi 8, 07100 Sassari, Italy. Public Health Authority employed as veterinary director of institutional activities.

Between 12/06/2003 and 02/08/2024 he will serve as Chief of the Regional Veterinary Epidemiological Observatory of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Sardegna "G. Pegreffi" Via Duca degli Abruzzi 8, 07100 Sassari (Italy). Public Health Authority.

Since 12/06/2003 he has served as Chief of the CdSe-OEVR (Centre of Epidemiological Surveillance -Regional Veterinary Epidemiological Observatory), Instituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Sardegna "G. Pegreffi", Via Duca degli Abruzzi 8, 07100 Sassari, Italy. Public Health Authority.

Since 03/08/2021 he is Chief Medical Officer (veterinarian) of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale della Sardegna "G. Pegreffi" Via Duca degli Abruzzi 8, 07100 Sassari (Italy), general management – Public Authority.

 

 

Dr. Jon Zack

Dr. Jonathan (Jon) Zack graduated from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. He was a medical assistant for large animals and equines before joining the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Veterinary Services in 2002.

He has worked as Veterinary Medical Officer, District Veterinarian, Area Veterinarian and is currently Director of National Preparedness and Incident Coordination. His preparedness activities include safe food supply plans and the Foreign Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Plan (FAD PReP). His work includes response plans to exotic Newcastle disease, contagious equine metritis, malignant catarrhal fever, low pathogenic avian influenza, highly pathogenic avian influenza, and the New World screwworm.

Dr. Dawn Hunter

Dr. Hunter has worked as a federal veterinarian in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for 15 years.

She currently works for the APHIS Veterinary Services as Trade Policy Advisor. She graduated in Animal Sciences and did her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University. She also has a Master’s in Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
