Dr. Susana Urena
Graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the National University. With more than 10 years of working in the National Animal Health Service (SENASA) - COSTA RICA in aspects related to regulation, norms and procedures in the field of animal health and public health. With knowledge in swine health and epidemiological surveillance, as well as inspection in processing plants.
• Coordinator of the National Swine Health Program: 2014 – present.
• Coordinator of the DIPOA pig area 2013 –2015.
• Outstanding veterinarian in DIPOA pork deboning and slaughterhouse 2011 –2013.
Dr. Aurelio Cabezas
Dr Aurelio Cabezas Aurelio joined OMSA in July 2019 and since June 2023 he has been part of the OMSA Department of World Animal Health Information and Analysis where he works as a Senior Animal Health Information Analyst. Aurelio is part of the monitoring team, the data management team and the epidemiology team within the Department and collaborates to a lesser extent with the early warning team. Main functions are the verification of the semi-annual reports and immediate notifications of animal health events submitted by the Members before their validation. Aurelio also contributes to the activities carried out with the development and optimization of the OMSA WAHIS platform.
Finally, Aurelio collaborates as much as possible in the different training activities for OMSA Members in the notification procedures. Before joining WOAH, Aurelio worked in academia on projects focused mainly on the development of simulation model studies to model the spread of diseases in livestock populations in order to facilitate the development of control and management policies. Aurelio earned his veterinary degree from the University of the Americas in Ecuador in 2012 and continued his postgraduate studies at the Royal Veterinary College and Kansas State University, where he earned his Master's and PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology.
Dr. Corina Zambrano
Executive Vice President of Porkcolombia Industrial Microbiologist from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Master (MSc) in Process Design and Management from the Universidad de la Sabana and PhD in Natural Sciences from the Technological of Costa Rica. Since 2018, she has served as executive vice president of the Porkcolombia Association, after serving as Director of Research and Technology Transfer. She also served as Executive Director of Ceniflores, Advisor to the Deputy Director General of Colciencias, and Technology and Innovation Specialist at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA). He also worked in institutions such as AGROSAVIA (formerly Corpoica), as well as in credit projects of the World Bank and the IDB, among others.
