Webinar 4 of the risk analysis series. Presents the results of the ASF risk analysis studies carried out by the FAO and OIRSA for the Americas and the Caribbean.
Andriyi Rozstalnyy: Animal health officer in the UN Agriculture and Food Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy. He graduated from the National Agriculture University of Ukraine in 1997 and completed his doctorate in veterinary pathology in 2001. He has also formed part of a team that directs the FAO’s assistance for the control of ASF in Eastern Europe. He developed and supervised the implementation of various FAO technical cooperation programs on improving veterinary systems, the management of transboundary animal diseases and regional networks, and a specific project aimed at the prevention and control of ASF in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova. In autumn 2018, he transferred to the FAO headquarters in the System of Prevention and Emergence of Transboundary Animal and Plant Pests for Animal Health (EMPRES) which supports the development of policies and strategies for the prevention and control of transboundary animal diseases and priority zoonosis, collaborating with the implementation and execution of said program. He also worked as coordinator of the GF-TADs task force on ASF and leads work on the implementation of the initiative of ASF global control.
Assad Heneidi: Graduate in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. He has a Master’s and a Doctorate in Veterinary Sciences in the epidemiology area. He has over 37 years’ experience in agricultural health, fish health, epidemiology, risk analysis, regionalization, compartmentalization, food safety, negotiation, training and teaching. He has held various public offices, most notably that of director of the zoosanitary campaign, director of the Center for the Verification of Animal Health, director of epidemiological surveillance and director of epidemiology and of risk analysis. He represented Mexico as a member of the ad-hoc group on risk analysis of the regional commission for the Americas of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). He coordinated and is a member of various technical committees of the National Animal Health Consultation Board (CONASA), he is also a national coordinator in the area of national epidemiology certification by the National Board of Veterinary Certification (CONCERVET). He is a former professor of the chair of epidemiology of the School of Veterinarian Medicine and Animal Husbandry of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and is currently a consultant in epidemiology and risk analysis.
